This Weeks's News

APEX Feature In Forbes - ADAIN!

Forbes last week published an article featuring Oracle Application Express (APEX).

This time Forbes focuses on the announcement that APEX, ORDS, and SQL Developer are now available on the Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud. It identifies APEX as a low code solutions and includes comments from Maria Colgan, Roel Hartment and Scott Spendolini as well as other members of the APEX community.

In Episode 11 of APEX Now, I featured the same subject and spoke with Roel Hartman about his early impressions. You can listen to that episode at http://apexnow.news/ep11.

Kscope20 Early Bird Registration

nKscope19 has just ended but already people are thinking about Kscope20. It takes place in Boston next year.

ODTUG has opened up early registration with a savings of $300. You can also register for only the Sunday symposiums.

sSomething cool on the registration page is that you can download a motivation letter to convince your boss to let you attend. You can download specific motivation letters for individual stream. And, there is an APEX letter. fI don't know if they have had these letters available in the past, but I think it's a cool idea.

So don't miss out on the savings. Advance registration is open.

What The Oracle Microsoft Cloud Partnership Really means
cmswire.com

A very good article appeared in CMS Wire this past week. It outlines the market reaction and benefits to the interoperability parnership announced last month nbetween the Oracle Cloud and Microsoft Azure.

CMS Wire is a publication that focuses on digital technology and business intellegence sstrategies. It is read by more than six million business infuencers.

Unlike the official press releases from both Oracle and Microsoft, the article discusses the real impact of the partnership in the digital infastructure and cloud computing space.

Low-Code Specialists Dominate 'Multiexperience Development Platform' Ranking
Adtmag.co
David Rand

Low Code is becoming more and more the leading development trend. APEX is a Low Code framework thatprovides some complex components with little or no code.

Imagine that you have a requirement to develop a data entry block similar to that found in Oracle Forms. You could spend days and weeks developing that functionality. The Interactive Grid is a Low Code component that gives you the full functionality you are looking for. Since the IG already is built for you, as a developer you can spend more time meeting the more complex business requirements.

This Article by David Rand really has nothing specifically to say about APEX but it is a mainstream article that highlights the importance of Low Code in development today.

Hie Column In Classic Report (Card) With CSS And Template
Ali Saleh

This post is very helpful. When creating a Classic Report there are a number for to hide a column conditionally. You can specify the condition for which to display the column, or you could use authorisation in a similar way.

But, when you are using the Card template for the report, this won't work.

|Ali's post shows you how to use CSS to accomplish the task of hiding a column under a specified condition.

The post is also supported by a video in Arabic.

 Lessions from Kscope19
Scott Wesley
Grassroots Oracle

Scott Wesley gave two presentations at Kscope19.

One presentations was on APEX for Forms Developers and the second explored working with Multiple APEX Applications. The session presentations are both available online.

Whenever you give presentation, whether for APEX or something else, there are always things to think about in advance of your presentation and during it.

In this post, Scott goes through the lessons he learned in preparing and delivering his presentation. It's a pretty good synopsis of tips.
